Orlando Science Center – Dangerously Romantic

When a bride comes to us with an inspiration that includes succulents, rosemary, lavender and eucalyptus, they have our attention. With an inspiration photo of a bouquet, we created a stunning bouquet for her and her maids dressed in mint. They stood in front of a white arch with floral of lavender, white and greenery. The cake was topped with a bride and groom dinosaur, yes you heard that right! We dressed the cake with cascading floral, succulents and greens. This was a dangerously romantic wedding that we were thrilled to be part of!!

Winter Park Farmers Market – Southern Classic

Winter Park Farmers Market is a popular venue here in Orlando, and we love when our brides make it unique! Patrick and Laura chose a rustic and vintage design for their wedding. Everything from the babies breath that lined their aisle to the stacked vintage books on their ceremony tables was as unique as Patrick and Laura.

For the brides bouquet we used only the best flowers! From the gorgeous Juliet garden roses, the amazing blush clooney ranunculus, to the pop of blue from the thistle that finished it perfectly. Her bouquet is certainly one for the books! The sequined gold bridesmaids dresses and quirky groomsmen suits were a stylish finishing touch for this fun wedding.

Peachtree House- Vintage Elegance

Some vendors might think working with a couple that lives across the pond is a difficult task, but we embrace it! This lovely couple came to us all the way from England and gave us a little over two months to get their vision from paper to wedding day. But here at Bluegrass Chic, we love a challenge!

We came up with a design plan based on the brides inspiration and gave it life with just one simple request from the groom: to use proteas from his native country, South Africa. Using the proteas, the brides bouquet was very unique with various textures and colors. The bridesmaids took a more classic look using creams, blush, and greens.

Peachtree house is a gorgeous property with a sea of ferns and rose bushes so it does not need much help to be event ready. For a few last minute touches we added a rustic floral piece to the arch, that had hanging amaranthus and greens and a spray of silver dollar eucalyptus on the guest book table that was a tribute to the couples many travels. The bride and groom’s unique style was on full display at this very romantic and  vintage wedding!

Mission Inn-Turquoise Romance

When you can feel the love between your bride and groom, it truly makes our job easy! For this gorgeous turquoise wedding, the groom made sure every single detail was done correctly. He was very meticulous, because his bride was finishing up school and he took the reins on the wedding so she didn’t have to worry about a thing. To start, we created the wonderfully fragrant brides bouquet with o’hara garden roses, freesia, and ranunculus and to add texture we added brunia and seeded eucalyptus. We carried that flower selection through to her brides maids bouquets and on our birch wood arch design.

The reception was glowing from wall to wall! For the centerpieces, we filled tall cylinders with twinkle lights so when the lights we dim the room would sparkle. The floral arrangements on top were created with white hydrangea, freesia, and blush roses. We covered the fireplace with candles and lights. However, the room wouldn’t have looked the same without those gorgeous turquoise linens from Over the top!

Leu Gardens – Irish Wedding

We really enjoyed designing this romantic, almost all green wedding with a touch of white and thistles. This stunning bride with the most gorgeous red hair wore a romantic lace gown with a stunning shawl draped over her arms as she walked down the aisle. Her maids wore a soft teal and a gray shawl draped with green and white bouquets. The bride carried a soft cascading bouquet with queens ann lace, brunia, thistles, green hydrangea, garden roses and amaranthus. The ceremony was moved inside for weather, but we moved their birchwood ceremony arch inside with corner floral of white hydrangea, ivy, thistle and amaranthus. The couple had a bagpiper in honor of their heritage to start and end the ceremony.

Peachtree House -Rustic Elegance

When people ask us what our specialty is, we say Rustic Elegance. Sometimes that is hard to understand as those words usually don’t go together. Although this wedding will help everyone understand how elegant, rustic can be.

We set the stage at the beautiful Peachtree House in College Park. The bride and groom choose the fabulous Chris Glenn to capture the entire event. The details from this wedding surpass almost any other we have done before, styled by Mobella Events. From the floating floral monogram, ceremony cross, driftwood centerpieces, gold candelabras, Spanish moss and orchid aisle, to the Star Wars guests. Yes, you heard me right… Star Wars Darth Vader and a couple of Storm Troupers to entertain the guests. This wedding is one for the books for sure!

In a World Full of Wildflowers…

Wow!  We are so excited to share these fantastic photos from Samantha and Thor’s wedding day with you!  Samantha and Thor’s vision for their special day was rustic and wildflower-esque.  They celebrated their nuptials at the FFA Leadership Training Center in Haines City, Florida.

We created whimsical bouquets for her Maids filled with greenery, white wax flowers, white monte casino, and blue delphinium.  For Samantha’s bridal bouquet however, we designed more of a romantic look complete with white monte casino, white scabiosa, babies breath, white wax flowers, white spray roses, blue delphinium, and greenery.  For their ceremony, we designed hanging floral pieces for her rustic barn door entrance filled with white monte casino, white wax flowers, babies breath, and greenery.  These doors made for the perfect touch to this rustic ceremony!  For the aisle, we designed babies breath arrangements inside blue-laced mason jars that sat on top of tree stumps that Thor cut down himself!

We just love the attention to detail that Samantha and Thor had for their wedding day!  What a beautiful wedding this was!  We hope you enjoy these photos as much as we did!

Lake Ashby Farms – Rustic Elegance

These photos from Samantha and Michael’s wedding day are just amazing!  We had a blast creating and designing their rustic elegant vision.  They held their wedding at Lake Ashby Farms in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

For Samantha’s bridal bouquet, we designed using coral roses, blush ranunculus, blush astilbe, blush tulips, succulents, and white stock.  For her Maids’, we designed more of a wild look, with white monte casino, white alstroemeria, white wax flowers, white stock, white veronica, and seeded eucalyptus.  For Michael and his Groomsmens’ boutonnieres, we designed using spray roses, eucalyptus, and astilbe inside of shotgun shells.

For their ceremony, we laid white roses with streaming ribbons on their memory table for loved ones.

For their reception, we designed stunning arrangements inside their gold and burlap/lace wrapped mason jars.  We used a combination of white hydrangea, coral roses, blush alstroemeria, white wax, and white stock.

We absolutely love the little details that make this wedding!  We hope you enjoy these photos as much as we did!

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR COMPANY.

My name is Michelle Lewis, I am the owner and lead designer of Bluegrass Chic. I’m originally from Northern Kentucky.  I like to bring a little bit of country flair to my designs, even if is just my southern hospitality.  I am a mother of two beautiful children, John and Payton.  My husband works for Orlando Fire Department, so our schedule changes every week. It keeps things interesting to say the least!  My company, Bluegrass Chic, is a wedding and special event florist based in Orlando, Florida.  We provide services to all of Central Florida and Greater Cincinnati.  We offer specialty design work.  Our goal is to be as flexible as possible.  If you already know what you want, we can create it!  If you know your colors and have your dresses already picked out, we can be inspired.  If you happen to be a Pinterest Bride, let us take a look and we can create something similar, but uniquely yours.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO WEDDING FLORALS?

I studied and interned for a florist here in Orlando for two years before deciding to go out on my own.  I was taking a leap of faith, but it has really paid off.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT BEING A FLORIST?

I love getting the opportunity to take a vision the client has and help bring that to life with beautiful flowers.  It brings joy to my life to open a box of floral and see how it evolves into a work of art.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FLOWER AND / OR STYLE (MODERN, CLASSIC, NATURAL, GLAM) AND WHY?

We are known for the rustic style.  We have many different styles of containers that allow us to create a rustic, eclectic, romantic, or antique design.  We try to incorporate many different textures to create a natural or garden feel.

WHAT’S THE BIGGEST LESSON YOU’VE LEARNED, AND WOULD PASS ALONG TO OTHER NEW WEDDING FLORISTS JUST GETTING STARTED?

We always send a picture of the bouquet to the client a day or two before the wedding.  Although it is important for us to have all the floral be exactly what the client is wanting, the bridal bouquet must be exactly right.  We want the client to be in love with the bouquet.

WHAT ARE YOU FAVORITE TRENDS WHEN IT COMES TO WEDDING FLOWERS?

Textures and flowing bouquets.  We are not fans of a ball of flowers.  Creating texture and tones with varying heights, materials, and colors are our favorite things trending right now.

WHAT TIPS OR ADVICE CAN YOU GIVE TO COUPLES WHO ARE ORDERING THEIR WEDDING FLOWERS?

Determine what is important to you so you stay on budget.  Create a Pinterest board or cut some pictures from magazines and bring in an “inspiration board.”  It is important to have your venue booked and know your colors prior to meeting with your florist.  All of this allows us to have a productive first meeting.
