A Romantic Candlelit Reception at The Howey Mansion

Romantic Florals & Timeless Charm in a Historic Setting

Some wedding days feel like stepping into a storybook, and this romantic celebration at the historic Howey Mansion was no exception. Set against the grand architecture and old-world charm of this iconic venue, the entire day unfolded with an effortless elegance and floral design that brought both softness and drama in all the right ways.

The ceremony took place outdoors, in front of the stunning front of the historic mansion.. We kept the altar and aisle design simple but incredibly impactful—using lush, ground-level garden arrangements full of greenery to define the space, giving it a natural, overgrown beauty that felt like it belonged in a secret garden.

The bride carried a classic and elegant bouquet that perfectly complemented the setting—featuring white roses, cascading phalaenopsis orchids, and trailing greenery vines. It was a soft, romantic statement piece that echoed the beauty of the ceremony while giving a subtle nod to the mansion’s historic opulence.

As day turned to dusk, the real magic unfolded in the courtyard for the reception. The atmosphere completely transformed—warm, glowing, and utterly romantic. The entire reception was designed around candlelight and layers of natural textures, creating a rich, immersive experience that felt like dining in a European estate by moonlight.

Each reception table was a long, communal-style feast table—dressed from end to end with taper candles in varying heights, ornate candelabras, and vintage-style table lamps, all casting a golden glow that danced across the room. The lighting alone set the mood: intimate, inviting, and dramatic in the most beautiful way.

Down the center of every table, we draped organic greenery vines that meandered between the candles, flowing naturally and adding depth and movement. Tucked into the greenery were soft floral touches in a warm, romantic palette—nothing too bold, just enough to add gentle pops of color and texture.

One of our favorite design details? The fresh lemons placed throughout the tablescapes. Their bright yellow tones added a vibrant, unexpected element that felt playful and sophisticated all at once. Paired with the old-world decor, they brought a fresh Mediterranean touch that guests couldn’t stop talking about.

From the garden-style ceremony to the glow of candlelight at dinner, every detail came together to create a night that felt intimate, historic, and utterly magical. Designing florals at The Howey Mansion is always a joy—but this wedding will stay in our hearts for a long time.
